Nashville and Chicago bound

Nashville is tomorrow, on the road with Tony as he works at his company's Nashville hub. I'll be testing the portability of my work setup. The IT guy thinks it will be fine and he says he has logged in from the road before so we'll see what happens. If it doesn't work, I'm sure I'll be fired or something, as this trip is kind of spontaneous and not necessarily approved. Also, now would be a good time to have a laptop. Lugging the computer and router, etc. will be a pain.

From Nashville I'll be flying to Chicago to work a few nightshifts and try to squeeze in some Chicago things. It's my chance to see the Chicago production of "Wicked," and they have a Wednesday matinee (but it's NOT the type of matinee that means cheaper tickets) where I might try for the $25 front-row-seat lottery that they apparently have 2 hours before every show. I have never heard of that kind of thing but it might be worth passing up sleep after the midnight show to camp out. I can expense $25 but can't expense $77.

The sad thing about this Chicago trip is that my magical Andersonville motel seems to have fallen to lakefront construction. I'll have to check it out when I get to town, but from here I found that the phone number is disconnected and their email address returns mail as undeliverable. Nice directory assistance lady went so far as to find that the motel's address is now a construction company. I am entering another lottery of sorts, trying to get into the Abbott Hotel in boy's town, a place that is cheap and sounds modern (not like the double-penetration-on-7-television-channels type motel I'll be forced to stay at if I can't get in at the Abbott) but doesn't take reservations. Huh? I guess they fill no matter what they do, so why hassle with reservations, I guess. It will be good to be in boy's town, lots of stuff to do there. I can have Chipotle every day without a huge, long bus ride if I want to.

Wish me luck in the lotteries!

Lugging the big, huge computer will be the hardest thing. Probably no one will steal it from the motel room though, right? It won't fit in any safe.

Goodbye diet!!! Or, I could take this time as an interesting challenge to figure out creative ways of dealing with being on the road for 10 days without access to stove/refrigerator/microwave. HA! Well, we'll see. I can't really not be dieting for 10 whole days.

Chipotle is interesting to me because we don't have one here and I didn't have one in my neighborhood in Chicago so never went. Tony and I went last time we were in Chicago...mmmmmmmmmmmm... And it's right next to the cool record store, too. All the things that are bad for you in one block!
